Whether you are a complete novice or have experience with other visual art mediums, you will find our courses to be accessible and enjoyable, giving you space to experiment and learn under the guidance of professional artists. Announcing Spring 2024 Sessions

Landscape Oil Painting Course - NO EXPERIENCE
Evening Session
April 9 - May 14

Landscape painting is perhaps the most accessible way to learn to paint in oils and a wonderful way to engage natural beauty. Using carefully selected and provided materials, instructor Charles DeAntonio leads you through six classes over six weeks. His tested techniques will allow you to begin painting right away. The result is a finished landscape ready to hang on your wall.

This class is tailored for those with little or no experience and is open to ages 15 years and up.

Space is limited to 6 students. Sessions are held over 6 weeks, meeting Tuesdays from 6pm to 7:45pm.

Landscape Oil Painting Workshop - SOME EXPERIENCE
Daytime Session
March 12, 2024 - April 14, 2024

As a follow-up to the basic landscape class, Charles DeAntonio will lead a landscape painting workshop that will focus on color mixing and color theory as well as composition and technique. All materials are supplied. 

Workshops are best suited to people with previous experience and at least moderate skill in oil painting – enough to start and finish an oil painting on your own.

Space is limited to 4 students. Sessions held over 3 weeks, meeting Tuesday and Thursday (with a break for Holy Week).

About the Instructor:
Charles DuPre DeAntonio

The son of a well-known Charleston portrait painter, Charles was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up in Mount Pleasant where he attended St. Andrew's Church as a child. His work hangs in private collections as far as California and Italy, as well as public collections such as St. Philip's Church, the Old Exchange Building, and the Charleston County Courthouse in downtown Charleston. His work was recently the featured in The Kairos Gallery in an exhibit titled “Growing Things Change.” His recent Forum keynote talks can be viewed on our Media page. His students, which vary from complete novices to seasoned artists, have praised his supportive style as well as the accessibility of his teaching.
